Vol. 62 No. 4 (2025): REHABILITÁCIA
Education that integrates specialised knowledge, clinical practice and current scientific findings represents a fundamental prerequisite for the development of every medical discipline. In the autumn of this year, Slovak physiatry, balneology and rehabilitation medicine marked a significant historical milestone. After twenty years of continuous administrative effort, the Clinic of Physical Medicine, Balneology and Rehabilitation of the University Hospital Bratislava in Ružinov was established on 15 October 2025 within the Faculty of Medicine of the Slovak Medical University.
This development will enable more systematic training of young physicians within their specialisation and will enhance the education of medical students and physiotherapists in both outpatient and inpatient care. It is also expected to strengthen scientific research activities and support the growth of a new generation of experts in the field of physical medicine, balneology and rehabilitation, who will actively contribute to education and research. Sustainable progress within the discipline requires a continuous influx of professionals with academic and pedagogical qualifications including PhD, associate professor and professor titles.
