Background: In the attestation work, in the theoretical part, we deal with the issue of craniocerebral injuries and their rehabilitation treatment at the NRC Kováčová. In the practical part, we focus on evaluating the effect of complex rehabilitation by testing the functional status of patients.
Objective: The aim of the work was to evaluate the effectiveness of complex rehabilitation treatment of patients with traumatic brain injury by testing functional abilities using the FIM test at the beginning and after the end of treatment in NRC Kováčová. File: The patient file was represented by 12 patients of both sexes aged from 20 to 59 years. The maximum time since the injury was 12 months, the minimum 2 months. The length of stay was from 7 weeks to 3 months.
Method: We used the FIM - Functional Independent Measure test to assess the functional fitness of patients at the beginning of complex rehabilitation treatment and after its completion.
Results: The total FIM score was on average 59 on admission and 96 on discharge. We processed the results statistically using a paired t-test. Statistical testing showed a significant increase in the overall FIM score after completing a comprehensive rehabilitation stay at NRC Kováčová. The overall result of rehabilitation treatment in patients after TMP can be evaluated on the basis of a t-test as significantly improved, which corresponds to the results of rehabilitation workplaces in the world. Conclusion: Thanks to early inpatient RHB treatment, an improvement in functional status was achieved, but it must be remembered that many times a certain degree of disability persists. Therefore, it is necessary to continue rehabilitation care in an outpatient form (rehabilitation, psychologist, speech therapist, etc.).
